Shelley Rudman Supporters Group

Hello, this site has been set up by friends of Shelley from her home village of Pewsey in Wiltshire who have founded the Shelley Rudman Supporters Group (SRSG) - their aim, to help her find the resources needed to achieve her aim of competing for Great Britain at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

SRSG is all about a community backing one of it's own in her bid for Gold, if you can help in any way or wish to send a donation please contact:

A Ted the Dog website for SRSG

The story so far ...

  • Nov 2005 - needing to finish in the top 12 of a World Cup race to qualify for Turin, Shelley gains 4th place in Calgary just 0.01 secs away from a medal!

  • Oct 2005 - Shelley wins the British Selection event, breaking the Lillehammer track record in the process.

  • June 2005 - Colin Harris (retired policeman) & Emma Dainton (2003 carnival queen of Pewsey and all Wiltshire) paddled a double canoe along the Kennet & Avon Canal from Pewsey via Devizes (where Shelley works) to Bath (her UK training base). It took them just under 12 hours in variable winds and burning heat, and none of us that followed their progress volunteered to swap places with them! They did it to help raise funds and awareness for Shelley's bid to get into the GB team for Turin 2006 and you can read more about it - here.

  • May 2005 - SRSG formed to help resource Shelley's bid to represent Great Britain at the 2006 Olympics in Turin - Press Release #1 (web / .pdf*).

  • 2000 onwards - check out these articles  from the archive at thisiswiltshire.co.uk - tracing Shelley's days from being a promising track & field athlete to becoming British and World Student Bob Skeleton champion in 2005.

  • 1948 - Pewsey man Bill Amor is selected to represent Great Britain at football for the London Olympics.
