Club History

Pewsey Vale FC was founded in 1948, prior to which a six-a-side team going by the name of Pewsey Boys are known to have been playing as early as 1921 ... more ...

The original facilities in a field at Swan Meadow near the current venue were very basic with only cold water available for the team bath. In 1950, the club took up the offer of a lease on part of the village's  Recreation Ground but it wasn't until the early 1980s that a permanent clubhouse was built, unaided by grants and so mainly through the generosity of several local businesses.

On the pitch the club first won the Wilts Div 1 championship in 1989/90 and when this feat was achieved again in 1992/93, it was as one of the first beneficiaries of the pyramid system that PVFC took its place in the Western League. In 2001, under the management of ex-Swindon legend Don Rogers, the club switched to the Hellenic League and won promotion to its Premier Division at the first attempt.

The ground was substantially improved with the help of FA grants in the close season of 2002 to meet Hellenic Premier League standards. This included floodlighting, undercover seating for 50 people and hardstanding all round the perimeter of the playing area. Further improvements are in the pipeline including undercover seating for 75 and standing for another 75 as well as control gates in each corner of the ground.
